Thursday 13th February 2020 - Printing
We have been creating different pieces of artwork using a variety of medias. Today we were experimenting with ink printing and created a repeated pattern using four different colours but the same design. Here is how some turned out!
Wednesday 12th February 2020 - Badminton at Atlantic Racquet Centre
Year 4 were lucky enough to be invited to the Atlantic Racquet Centre to try out playing badminton. The session included one hour of activities that had practice elements to it followed by an hour of social, interactive badminton match play. We were also joined by Year 4 children from St.Margarets, so we had a great time learning new skills with another school in our community.
Tuesday 11th February 2020 - Creating reflections using ICT
We uploaded a photo to the online resource Mirror Effect (https://mirroreffect.net/ ). Once we had created the mirror image, we copied and pasted it into PowerPoint. We then overlaid a picture of water ripples onto the bottom half of the image (the reflection) and adjusted the transparency to allow the mirror image to be seen. This gave us the effect of an object being reflected in water.
Wednesday 5th February 2020 - Multiplication in Maths
We have been working hard in year 4 on applying our times tables knowledge. We have been multiplying 2 and 3-digit numbers by 1 digit numbers in different ways including partitioning and column multiplication. Our hard work on Times Tables Rock Stars is paying off!
Year 4 Spring Term 1- Project 1
Wednesday 29th January 2020 - Mountain Survival Fact Files
We studied different types of fact files looking specifically at how they are engaging for the reader. This is achieved through the use of bright colours, bullet points, short sentences and technical vocabulary. We investigated how to survive in a mountain environment to produce our own mountain fact files.
Monday 20th January 2020 - The Water Cycle
In a previous project (Source to Sea) we found out about how the water cycle works. We revisited this learning by creating our own water cycle in a bag. When we put the bags over a heater, we observed water condensing on the sides, before falling back into the water as precipitation.
