Sports and Outdoor Facilities

At West Croft we are very fortunate to have a wide range of sporting facilities used to support and enrich both curricular and extra curricular activities. Our outdoor environment provides a fantastic opportunity to partake in all areas of sport within the learning environment.

A large field hosts two football pitches in winter, various rounders pitches during the summer, as well as a 400m elliptical running track.

Next to the Playground is the Multi Use Games Area (often referred to as the MUGA). This offers a unique games experience within an enclosed area and has two basketball hoops as well as various small and large targets.

The upper school playground has recently been resurface and has an array of markings for tennis and netball as well as markings for other games and activities.

As well as the upper school playground, we have the lower school playground which is a fantastic space for our KS1 children to run around in and have lots of fun! There are lots of playground markings which help to develop children’s physical skills.

We are fortunate enough to have our very own mini- amphitheatre which allows classes to carry out their work in a large outdoor space during the Summer months. On the lower part of the upper school playground, there are even more playground markings with our very own large snakes and ladders board!

Adjacent to the field is the West Croft garden which was constructed in 2015. Children of all year groups are able to visit the garden as part of their Forest school sessions to help plant vegetables and keep the garden tidy.     Visit our Forest School page.

A race track! Yes, a race track! Our Reception team have created their very own so that pupils in Reception have the chance to drive around on the go karts and park them up when not using them! A fantastic way to get outside, play with their friends and develop lots of key skills along the way!

Silver Games Mark Award

Our school has been awarded the Silver Games Mark for outstanding commitment to sport through enabling opportunities for children to compete, achieve and exceed in sports.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led awards scheme which rewards schools for their commitment to the development of sports competition across their school and into the community. It is a retrospective award which celebrates success over the previous academic year.

It is very valuable to the school, as OfSTED can use the Mark award as part of their PE inspection framework. More information is available online at: https://www.yourschoolgames.com/about-the-games.
