Physical Education
The upper school hall offers spacious facilities enabling classes to enjoy and progress through a number of activities within the PE curriculum. This includes gymnastics, dance and adventurous activities. Pictured is an example of some of the current gymnastics provision fixed and portable, enabling all children to develop to their full potential.
Our current PE provision is one hour of PE in the school hall and one hour of games outside each week. Each class continues their Daily Physical Activity of ‘Take 10’ either outdoors or in class. Our swimming curriculum, targets Year 4 pupils and other non-swimmers in higher years by providing a comprehensive course of lessons accommodated at Northam Pool. In the Summer term our Year 6 pupils are invited to participate in Bikeability (cycling skills and road safety) and achieve their Bikeability qualification.

Over this academic year we are fostering links with the wider sporting community thanks to our Sport and PE grant. This has enabled us to work alongside a Gymnastics Coach in the Autumn term, which enabled pupils to visit and experience a nearby gymnastics club.
A dance specialist will be working with pupils and staff in the Spring term to inspire our pupils’ creativity. This will culminate in pupil performances demonstrating their new skills in working creatively and imaginatively showing the expressive qualities of dance whilst working with their peers, which parents will be invited to attend.
Through our PEDPASS provision we also plan to develop our games lessons in a way that can be applied to a range of sports, for example football, tag-rugby and high five (netball). As the weather improves we will move this into coaching of striking of fielding games incorporating cricket, rounders and tennis etc.
Extracurricular activities are offered to across the year groups. These change on a termly basis. For further information please see Extracurricular activities
