At Little Crofters Nursery, we believe that every child deserves the best possible start to their learning journey. Our nursery is a warm, welcoming and exciting place where children can feel safe, make friends, discover new things and, most importantly, have fun!

We know that every child is unique, which is why we take the time to get to know each child, follow their interests and support them to learn at their own pace. Through play, exploration and positive relationships, we help children become confident, curious and enthusiastic learners.

A place to explore

Our nursery has two welcoming classrooms:

Caterpillar Class – for our 2–3 year olds
Butterfly Class – for our 3–4 year olds

Both classrooms provide age-appropriate activities, resources and routines, with access to wonderful outdoor spaces. Children can enjoy free-flow play, choosing whether to explore indoors or outdoors and discovering something new around every corner.

We love using natural resources and open-ended materials that encourage children to use their imagination, communicate, problem-solve and create their own adventures.

Learning through play

For us, learning happens everywhere — through conversations, stories, creativity, physical play, exploring the natural world and simply having fun together.

Communication and language are at the heart of everything we do. We encourage children to talk, listen, ask questions and discover new words throughout their day.

Our curriculum covers all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, with a balance of adult-led and child-led activities. We follow children's interests and provide opportunities for them to revisit and build on what they have already learned.

We want children to leave Little Crofters feeling confident, capable and excited about learning.

Working together with families

We believe that parents and families are an important part of a child's nursery journey. We work closely with families, sharing what children are learning and providing opportunities for parents to be involved in life at Little Crofters.

Our themes change each half term, with weekly learning shared with families so that you can continue the conversations and activities at home.

As children prepare for their next big adventure, we work closely with our Reception team to make sure the transition from nursery into school is as smooth and positive as possible.

Flexible sessions

We offer flexible sessions to suit your family's needs:

Morning: 8:50am – 11:50am
Afternoon: 12:00pm – 3:00pm
Full day: 8:50am – 3:00pm

Children attending in the morning should bring a healthy snack and fruit. Children staying for the afternoon should bring a packed lunch.

Our Little Crofters Nursery provides 30 hours a week term time only government funded places for 3-4 year olds and provision for 2-3 year olds from 9.00am until 3.00pm.

The philosophy of the setting is to provide planned, purposeful play through a mix of adult led and child initiated activities. Every child is considered to be unique and should feel safe and secure whilst becoming confident, self-motivated, independent learners through their play. The Nursery Practitioners work closely alongside parents/carers and other child care professionals. Working in partnership is essential to the well-being and development of children. We want every child to feel confident so that they can learn and achieve.

The Nursery offers care for 2 to 4 year olds from 9.00 am to 3.00 pm term time only.

The Nursery is part of West Croft, the School takes children up to 11 years old (Year 6)
