Personal, Social, Health & Economic (PSHE) Education plays a key role in the holistic development of a child. At West Croft, we provide our children with a PSHE curriculum that covers a diverse range of themes and issues which equip them with necessary knowledge and skills to navigate the world within and beyond our school.
Through engaging and collaborative weekly sessions, pupils will examine a variety of scenarios, discuss current issues and respectfully challenge others’ viewpoints. Pupils have the opportunity to consider their personal stances and values, build life-long transferrable skills and develop their ability to make considered choices. Our PSHE curriculum promotes the development of social skills including teamwork and compromise which are so integral for children to have to navigate their peer relationships at primary school.
Learning experiences in our PSHE sessions expose children to themes at the centre of their world as well as those beyond their own experience. Through guided exploration and discussion, pupils will gain a rich insight into the experiences of different groups of society. At West Croft, we aim for our children to become empowered citizens with a secure understanding of their own self, the confidence and knowledge to make informed choices along with the compassion to care for others.
