Year 4 Topic: What does pottery tell us about the past?
Over the last half term, Year 4 have been working on a project to answer the question 'What does pottery tell us about the past?'
They started by investigating different containers, what they are made of, how they are shaped and why. They then learnt all about the history of pottery making and firing in Bideford thanks to a very interesting trip to the Burton Art Gallery. Finally, they have studied the ancient Greek potters and their skill for portraying life in Athens through their recognisable pot designs and colours. Year 4 even had a go at making and decorating a Greek pot themselves!
