Recently the library has been beautifully redecorated and is a much pleasanter environment to enjoy reading in. The library now has on offer both fiction and non-fiction totalling over 3500 books.
Children are encouraged to borrow books to take home to read. They are allowed to borrow up to 2 books at a time, which can be exchanged during their weekly library session and must be returned at the end of the accademic year. In addition to a one hour a week session during lesson time, the children can access the library at lunchtimes for half an hour; thanks to the help of some of the teaching assistants.
The school has recently updated its library by putting all the books into a computersied catalogue. This will allow us to keep track of how many books are borrowed by each child.
Stepping Stones - Enjoy Reading!
Stepping stones is an activity run by West Croft to encourage and support children in their enjoyment of reading. At key points throughout their reading your child will be awarded badges and certificates as incentives, with a special badge given when they reach 100 books.
